HANUMANTHA VAHANA SEVA HELD DURING VONTIMITTA BRAHMOTSAVAMS

Vontimitta / Tirupati, March 30, 2026 – The annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Vontimitta (Kadapa district) witnessed one of the most significant and emotionally powerful rituals of the festival on Monday evening – the Hanumanta Vahana Seva. Held as part of the ten‑day Brahmotsavam calendar, this seva drew large crowds of devotees, especially those deeply devoted to Lord Hanuman.

Core significance of Hanumanta Vahana Seva

  • The Hanumanta Vahana Seva is considered the most important among all vahana sevas at Vontimitta, as it features Lord Hanuman himself as the vehicle (vahana) of devotion and protection.

  • Hanuman is revered not only as the ideal devotee of Lord Rama but also as an embodiment of strength, loyalty, courage, and selfless service, making his presence central to Rama‑centric temples.

  • Devotees believe that seeing the deities associated with Hanuman on this vahana brings inner strength, removal of obstacles, and divine protection in life and spiritual practice.

Atmosphere and participation

  • The evening procession was held in a devotional and festive atmosphere, with devotees chanting “Jai Hanuman”“Ramnam Satyam”, and other Hanuman‑related hymns along the route.

  • Temple officials, priests, and a large number of devotees gathered around the Vontimitta temple complex, many considering this seva as a highly auspicious opportunity for darshan and personal prayer.

  • The Hanumanta Vahana, often decorated with special garlands, dhotis, and symbolic ornaments, symbolically conveyed the idea that devotion and service (seva) are themselves the true vehicle to the Lord’s grace.

  • The Hanumanta Vahana Seva is the most important vahana seva of the Vontimitta Brahmotsavams, underlining the special status of Hanuman in the temple tradition.

  • Hanuman is worshipped not only as the devotee‑servant of Rama but also as an almighty form of strength and loyalty, holding a unique place in the hearts of devotees.

  • The seva’s emotionally charged atmosphere reinforces personal faith, protection themes, and the cult of Hanuman within the broader Rama‑centric festival framework.
