Tirupati, 23 April 2026 – The Pushpayagam (Pushpa Yagam) festival was conducted with great devotion at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Tirupati on Thursday, 23 April 2026. Thousands of devotees witnessed the grand floral ritual, which was held as a ritual of atonement (prayaschitta) following the recent Brahmotsavams and daily sevas at the temple.
Ritual schedule and offerings

From 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the processional deities of Sri Sita, Sri Lakshmana, and Sri Kodandarama Swamy with milk, curd, honey, turmeric, sandalwood, and coconut water, purifying the idols and preparing them for the floral yagam.

Later, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the main Pushpayagam was held at the Unjal Mandapam in the temple complex, where Vedic chants and traditional music accompanied the ritual.

Priests and devotees offered around three tonnes of flowers of various types to the deities, creating a vividly colourful and fragrant abhishekam.
Devotee participation and spiritual atmosphere

Devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka contributed flowers and actively participated, filling the temple premises with a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

The ritual was performed on Punarvasu Nakshatram, the birth‑star of Lord Sri Rama, which is considered highly auspicious for Rama‑related sevas.

Temple priests explained that Pushpayagam is offered as symbolic atonement for any inadvertent lapses in rituals or conduct and is believed to remove doshas (astrological‑ritual defects) and ensure the welfare of all.
Rathotsava‑like procession

In the evening, the processional deities of Sri Kodandarama Swamy, Sita, and Lakshmana were taken in a grand procession along the four Mada streets surrounding the temple, blessing the devotees who lined the roads.

TTD officials and large numbers of devotees participated in the entire event, marking the Pushpayagam as both a community‑seva and a divine‑kingship‑tribute to Lord Kodandarama.

ఆలయ పరిసరంలోని ఉన్నల్ మండపంలో ఈ పుష్ప‑అభిషేకం నిర్వహించారు; వేదమంత్ర‑జపం, శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతం మధ్య భక్తులు సుమారు మూడు టన్నుల పూలను దేవతకు అర్పించారు, ఇది రంగులతో, సుగంధాలతో కూడిన అత్యంత దృశ్య‑ఆకర్షణ సృష్టించింది.
