Tirumala, June 23, 2026: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) performed the annual Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam with traditional grandeur at the Srivari Temple in Tirumala.

The sacred ritual was conducted during the early morning hours in Ekantham, with Vedic chanting and elaborate religious ceremonies, drawing the participation of temple officials and devotees.

Historical Significance of the Ritual

The Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam is performed every year during the month of Jyeshta to commemorate the historic consecration of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy, the silver idol donated by the renowned Pallava Queen Samavai Perundevi several centuries ago.

This annual ritual preserves an important chapter in the spiritual history of Tirumala and reflects the enduring legacy of royal patronage towards Lord Venkateswara.

Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy – The Koutuka Beram

Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy is revered as the Koutuka Beram of Lord Venkateswara and is also popularly known as Manavala Perumal.

The sacred idol:

🔹 Measures approximately 1.5 feet in height

🔹 Has four divine arms

🔹 Holds the Sudarshana Chakra and Panchajanya Shankha

🔹 Is regarded as the silver replica of the Moola Virat in every aspect

The deity occupies a unique place in the daily rituals and temple traditions of Tirumala.

Rituals Performed in Ekantham

The Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam was performed between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM in Ekantham following long-standing Agama traditions.

After the completion of the special ritual, all daily Arjita Sevas and temple rituals were conducted as per the regular schedule without any changes.
