Tirumala, August 11, 2026: The annual Pavitrotsavams at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Tirumala, will be conducted from August 23 to 25, 2026. The religious festivities will commence with Ankurarpanam on August 22.
According to Agama traditions, Pavitrotsavams are performed to address any inadvertent lapses that may occur during the daily rituals and annual festivals at the temple throughout the year, whether due to devotees or temple staff, and to preserve the sanctity of the temple.
Pavitrotsavams Revived by TTD in 1962
Historical records indicate that Pavitrotsavams were conducted at Tirumala during the 15th and 16th centuries.
The festival was subsequently revived by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in 1962, continuing the ancient religious tradition at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
Snapana Tirumanjanam for Three Days
As part of the Pavitrotsavams, Snapana Tirumanjanam will be performed in the Sampangi Prakaram of the temple for three consecutive days.
The ritual will be conducted daily from 9 am to 11 am from August 23 to 25.
In the evenings, Sri Malayappa Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi will be taken in a procession along the four Mada Streets, blessing the devotees.

The principal rituals of the three-day Pavitrotsavams are scheduled as follows:
- August 23: Pavitrams Pratista
- August 24: Pavitra Samarpana
- August 25: Pavitra Purnahuti
