Tirupati, August 3, 2026: The 72nd National Drama Festival of Sri Venkateswara Natya Kalaparishat began grandly at Mahathi Kalakshetram in Tirupati on Monday, marking the revival of the prestigious cultural event after a gap of six years.

The 10-day festival brings together artists, cultural enthusiasts and members of the public, providing a platform to celebrate and promote Indian theatre, arts and cultural traditions.

TTD Provides Rs. 25 Lakh Financial Assistance

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme, Tirupati MLA Sri Arani Srinivasulu appreciated the efforts of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in consistently encouraging and preserving Indian arts and culture.

He said TTD had extended Rs. 25 lakh financial assistance to the drama festival, which played an important role in reviving the event after six years. He expressed hope that TTD would continue its support for artists and cultural activities in the future.

Sugunamma Calls for Greater Public Participation

AP Greening and Beautification Corporation Chairperson Smt. Sugunamma urged art lovers and the public to participate in the 10-day drama festival in large numbers.

She also suggested that regular performances of mythological and social dramas should be revived in Tirupati to further strengthen the city's cultural atmosphere.

TTD Highlights Role of Arts and Culture

TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad Secretary Dr. Medasani Mohan said that art and culture flourish in a society that respects and values artists.

TTD Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. T. Ravi highlighted TTD's continued efforts to promote music, drama and India's cultural heritage through various projects and institutions.

Several dignitaries, artists, cultural enthusiasts and members of the public attended the inaugural programme of the 72nd National Drama Festival.
