Tirumala, June 15, 2026: The annual Salakatla Jyeshtabhishekam, one of the most significant festivals associated with the Utsava Murthies of Tirumala, will be observed from June 26 to June 28 at the Srivari Temple.
The celestial ritual, also known as Abhidyeyaka Abhishekam, is performed every year during the Jyeshta month and concludes on the auspicious day of Jyeshta Nakshatra.
The sacred ceremonies will take place in the Kalyana Mandapam of Sampangi Prakaram within the temple premises.
Spiritual Significance of Jyeshtabhishekam
Jyeshtabhishekam is a unique annual ritual performed primarily for the protection and preservation of the ancient ceremonial idols of the deities.
Over generations, the Utsava Murthies undergo numerous Abhishekams and festival rituals. The annual Jyeshtabhishekam serves as a sacred occasion to ceremonially remove and re-adorn the protective armours while performing special purification rituals.
Devotees consider witnessing this rare event highly auspicious.

Following the rituals, the deity is adorned with the magnificent Diamond Armour (Vajra Kavacham).
Day 2 – Pearl Armour (Muthyapu Kavacham)
🤍 On the second day, Sri Malayappa Swamy is decorated with the beautiful Pearl Armour.
This darshan is considered extremely rare and spiritually significant.
Day 3 – Golden Armour (Bangaru Kavacham)
✨ On the final day, the deity is once again adorned with the traditional Golden Armour.
The sacred armour remains on the Utsava Murthy throughout the year until the next Jyeshtabhishekam.
Once-a-Year Opportunity
One of the unique aspects of Jyeshtabhishekam is that the Golden Armour is removed only once every year, exclusively during this festival.
For the remainder of the year, Sri Malayappa Swamy participates in various temple festivals and processions wearing the same sacred golden armour.
This makes Jyeshtabhishekam one of the most eagerly awaited annual events in Tirumala.
Arjita Sevas Cancelled
In view of the festival arrangements, TTD has announced the cancellation of the following Arjita Sevas on June 28, 2026:
