Tirupati / Nagalapuram, August 2, 2026: A police case has been registered against Nelson Mandela and four others following a complaint lodged by TTD Vigilance officials over alleged violations during birthday celebrations at Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple in Nagalapuram, Tirupati district.
According to TTD, the group allegedly celebrated a birthday inside the temple premises in violation of temple regulations and threw money during the celebrations.
Mobile Phone Used Despite Temple Restrictions
TTD stated that mobile phones are prohibited inside the temple. However, the individuals allegedly carried a mobile phone into the temple, recorded the birthday celebrations and later posted the footage on social media.
Following the incident, TTD Vigilance officials lodged a complaint, based on which police registered a case against the five persons.
Departmental Action Against TTD Staff
TTD has also ordered departmental action against the staff members who were allegedly not vigilant while the incident was taking place.
The Devasthanams stressed that employees responsible for maintaining temple discipline and regulations are expected to remain alert and ensure that prohibited activities do not occur inside sacred premises.
TTD Warns Against Violations of Temple Sanctity
TTD stated that it would not tolerate activities that undermine the sanctity, discipline or reputation of its temples.
It further warned that strict legal action would be initiated against individuals involved in such violations and urged devotees and visitors to respect temple traditions, regulations and the sacred atmosphere of TTD temples.
