Tirupati, July 26, 2026: The annual three-day Pavitrotsavams of Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple, Tirupati, commenced on Sunday with great religious fervour amidst Vedic chanting and Saivite Agama rituals.
The sacred festival is one of the temple's most significant annual observances, performed to preserve the sanctity of temple worship and invoke divine blessings.
Special Snapana Tirumanjanam Performed
As part of the inaugural ceremonies, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the Panchamurthis using sacred ingredients including:
- Milk
- Curd
- Honey
- Turmeric
- Sandalwood
- Other holy substances
The elaborate rituals were conducted according to traditional Agama practices in the presence of devotees.
Evening Rituals
The following ceremonies are scheduled for Sunday evening:
- Kalasa Puja
- Homam
- Pavitra Pratishta
These rituals form an integral part of the Pavitrotsavams and symbolise purification and spiritual renewal.
Remaining Festival Schedule
The festival will continue with:
- July 27: Granthi Pavitra Samarpana
- July 28: Maha Poornahuti
The concluding rituals will mark the successful completion of the annual Pavitrotsavams.
Spiritual Significance of Pavitrotsavams
Pavitrotsavams are conducted every year as a sacred atonement ritual (Prayaschitta) for any unintentional omissions or lapses that may have occurred during the temple's daily worship and annual festivals.
The rituals seek the divine blessings of Sri Kapileswara Swamy for:

- Universal peace and welfare
- Prosperity and well-being of devotees
