Tirupati, July 24, 2026: The annual three-day Jyeshtabhishekam of Sri Govindaraja Swamy commenced with great religious fervour at the Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Tirupati, on Friday. The sacred festival is traditionally celebrated every year during the auspicious Ashada month.
Following the Suprabhata Seva, the temple conducted its regular daily rituals before performing Shata Kalasa Snapanam and Mahashanti Homam in accordance with the Agama Shastras.
Snapana Tirumanjanam Performed
The Utsava Murthis of Sri Govindaraja Swamy, along with Sridevi and Bhudevi, were ceremonially offered Snapana Tirumanjanam in the temple's Kalyana Mandapam.
The divine abhishekam was performed using:
- Milk
- Curd
- Honey
- Sandalwood paste
- Turmeric
- Coconut water
The sacred ritual symbolises purification, prosperity, and divine grace.
Kavachadhivasam Observed
As part of the first day's rituals, Kavachadhivasam was also observed. Priests offered special prayers to the sacred armour (Kavacham) of the Lord, seeking divine protection and blessings for devotees.
Evening Tiruchi Procession
At 5:30 PM, Sri Govindaraja Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, will bless devotees by taking out a Tiruchi procession through the four Mada Streets surrounding the temple.

The programme was attended by:

- Temple Inspector Sri Dhananjayulu
- Temple priests, officials, and a large gathering of devotees.
The remaining days of the Jyeshtabhishekam will feature more sacred rituals and celebrations, drawing devotees from across the region.
