Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, April 2026 – Police in Nellore have busted a large‑scale employment scam in which an accused posed as a TTD‑connected official and fraudulently collected ₹48 lakh from unemployed youth by promising them jobs in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The 44‑year‑old main accused misled victims by claiming he had strong contacts inside TTD and even showed photographs with TTD officers to create a false sense of trust.
How the scam worked

The accused convinced many job‑seekers in Nellore that he had important contacts in TTD and could get them regular, permanent jobs or contract‑type roles inside the temple administration if they paid a certain amount.

Over time, he collected funds in instalments, eventually amassing about ₹48 lakh from the affected youth. Instead of jobs, victims were only given false assurances, phone calls, and delay‑tactics before the accused stopped responding and turned his phone off.

When the victims eventually approached the TTD office with the “call letters” or documents they received, temple officials declared them fake, exposing the fraud.
Police action and recovery

After multiple complaints from Nellore and nearby villages, the Nellore police launched a probe using the mobile‑number trails of the accused and arrested the main suspect. They also recovered over ₹25.20 lakh in cash, which was part of the ill‑gotten money.

Police held a media briefing in Nellore, warning the public never to believe individuals who offer government jobs, railway jobs, or TTD‑plane “back‑door” jobs for a fee.
TTD’s stand and public advice
