Tirupati, August 6, 2026: The annual Pavitrotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Tirupati will be celebrated with religious fervour from August 8 to 10, 2026, with the traditional Ankurarpanam ceremony scheduled for the evening of August 7.
The three-day sacred festival will feature Vedic rituals, Snapana Tirumanjanam, special Yajnas and processions.
Ankurarpanam on August 7
The traditional Ankurarpanam will be performed on August 7 evening, marking the ceremonial commencement of the annual Pavitrotsavams.
The main Pavitrotsavam rituals will then be conducted for three days from August 8 to August 10.
Why Are Pavitrotsavams Performed?
Pavitrotsavams are conducted annually as an important temple purification and sanctification festival.
Through prescribed Vedic and Agama rituals, the festival is traditionally observed to uphold the sanctity of the temple and its religious practices.
Daily Snapana Tirumanjanam and Yajnas
During the three-day festival, several special religious rituals will be performed every day, including:
- Snapana Tirumanjanam
- Special Yajna rituals
- Vedic rituals
- Processions of the deities
The ceremonies will be conducted in accordance with temple traditions.
Devotees Can Participate for ₹500
Devotee couples can directly participate in the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Pavitrotsavams by paying ₹500 per couple.
The festival provides devotees an opportunity to witness the sacred rituals and seek the divine blessings of Sri Sita, Rama and Lakshmana.
Spiritual and Devotional Programmes
As part of the Pavitrotsavams, the TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) and Annamacharya Project will organise spiritual discourses and devotional music programmes every day.
The programmes will complement the religious celebrations and create a devotional atmosphere throughout the three-day festival.
