Tirupati, June 25, 2026: The annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Appalayagunta, commenced with great religious fervour on Thursday following the ceremonial Garuda Dhwajarohanam.
The sacred Garuda flag was hoisted amid Vedic chanting and Govinda Namasmarana, in accordance with Agama Shastra traditions, formally marking the beginning of the nine-day annual festival.
Symbolic Invitation to the Divine
According to temple tradition, the hoisting of the Garuda flag signifies a divine invitation to all celestial beings, sages and deities to participate in the Brahmotsavams and bless the sacred celebrations.
The ritual is regarded as one of the most important ceremonies of the annual festival.
Snapana Tirumanjanam Performed
Following the Dhwajarohanam, priests performed the sacred Snapana Tirumanjanam to the deities amidst Vedic hymns and traditional rituals.
The ceremonial holy bath is performed to invoke divine grace and ensure the successful conduct of the Brahmotsavams.
Pedda Sesha Vahanam First Vahana Seva
The first Vahana Seva of the Brahmotsavams, Pedda Sesha Vahanam, is scheduled to be held on Thursday night.
During the nine-day festival, devotees will have the opportunity to witness the Lord on various divine Vahanams, each carrying deep spiritual significance.
