Tirupati, August 20, 2026: Saint-poetess Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba was a remarkable blend of devotion, knowledge and spiritual discipline, said TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad Secretary Dr. M. Medasani Mohan.
The 209th Vardhanthi celebrations of Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba began grandly at Annamacharya Kala Mandiram, Tirupati, on Thursday.
Vengamamba’s Philosophy of Devotion
Speaking on “Tarigonda Vengamamba – Philosophy of Devotion,” Dr. Medasani Mohan said Vengamamba’s devotion went beyond mere worship and reflected complete surrender and divine experience.
He said her unwavering faith in Lord Venkateswara and deep spiritual experiences were reflected in her writings, which continue to inspire devotion among readers.
Vengamamba’s Literature – A Source of Spiritual Inspiration
SVETA In-charge Director and Special Officer of the Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Project, Dr. Vema Venkata Ratnam, said Vengamamba’s life would continue to inspire future generations.
He said her simple and popular literary style made her works accessible to people from all sections of society.
Her writings reflected devotion, spiritual thought, yoga and divine experience, serving as a powerful source of inspiration for promoting dharma and spiritual values.

Dasa Sahitya Project Special Officer Sri P.R. Ananda Theerthacharyulu said Vengamamba had immense devotion and faith in Lord Venkateswara and spread His glory and the philosophy of devotion through her writings.
He said her works beautifully combined devotion, surrender, spirituality and literary excellence, continuing to guide the present generation on the path of devotion.
Vengamamba’s Life an Ideal of Devotion and Penance
Noted litterateur Smt. Gangavaram Sridevi, speaking on “Tarigonda Vengamamba – Yogic Life,” said Vengamamba dedicated her entire life to the service of Lord Venkateswara.
She said Vengamamba’s life and writings addressed the social shortcomings of her time and continue to offer valuable guidance to society.
As a devotee, reformer, yogini and poetess, Vengamamba spread the message of devotion and spiritual values, she added.
Devotional Music Programmes
A devotional music programme by Annamacharya Project artistes will be held at Annamacharya Kala Mandiram from 6 PM to 8 PM on August 20.
Vengamamba Vardhanthi Programmes on August 21
On August 21 at 9 AM, TTD officials will offer floral tributes at the Tarigonda Vengamamba statue near M.R. Palli Circle.
At Annamacharya Kala Mandiram, a music concert by Annamacharya Project artistes will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM, followed by a Harikatha programme from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Grand Tribute at Tirumala
TTD senior officials will offer floral tributes at Tarigonda Vengamamba Brindavanam in Tirumala at 9 AM on August 21.
Special Programmes at Vengamamba’s Birthplace
At Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Tarigonda, the birthplace of Vengamamba, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Kalyanotsavam will be performed at 5 PM on August 21.
Devotional music and Harikatha programmes by Annamacharya Project artistes will follow.
SVETA Superintendent Smt. N. Suseela, Senior Assistant Sri L.N.V. Ravikumar, officials, scholars, SVETA staff, litterateurs, artistes and a large number of devotees participated in the celebrations.
