Tirupati, July 19, 2026: Two private artists engaged by the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Vadamalapeta–Pudi Cross while travelling to perform a Harikatha programme at the TTD temple in Satravada on Sunday morning.
The deceased artists were:
- Sri K. Chakravarthi – Violin Artist
- Sri K. Nagaraju Chetty – Tabla Artist
The accident occurred while they were travelling on official duty to render devotional service.
TTD Announces Humanitarian Assistance
Expressing profound grief over the incident, TTD Chairman Sri B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer Sri Muddada Ravichandra, and Joint Executive Officer Dr. A. Sharath approved immediate relief measures for the bereaved families.
The assistance includes:
- ₹25,000 immediate funeral assistance from HDPP funds to each family.
- ₹5 lakh ex gratia for each bereaved family.
Free Education for Children
TTD has also announced that the children of the deceased artists, if eligible, will be provided free education up to the degree level in TTD educational institutions.
Officials stated that these humanitarian welfare measures will be placed before the TTD Board for formal ratification during its next meeting.
TTD conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting those who serve Sanatana Dharma through devotional arts.
