TTD to Introduce More Electric Buses for Eco-Friendly Tirumala | Major Reforms Announced

Tirumala, August 15, 2026: On the auspicious occasion of the 80th Independence Day, TTD Additional Executive Officer Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary called upon every employee to serve devotees with greater dedication, vigour and spirit.

After hoisting the National Flag at his camp office in Tirumala, the Additional EO outlined several reforms focused on technology, transparency and systematic management to improve pilgrim services, protect the environment and strengthen TTD administration.

37 Additional Electric Buses to Make Tirumala Eco-Friendly

Highlighting TTD’s efforts to reduce vehicular pollution, the Additional EO said Tirumala witnesses around 10,000 to 14,000 vehicles every day.

With support from donors, 37 additional electric buses will be provided to strengthen eco-friendly public transportation in Tirumala. Around 25 electric buses are expected to be available during the upcoming Brahmotsavams.

The long-term objective is to make free bus services available approximately every two minutes, helping reduce pollution and improve transportation for pilgrims.

ICCC Upgrade to Improve Pilgrim Management

The second phase of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has been developed with the support of an NRI.

The upgraded system provides real-time information on pilgrim locations, waiting times, arrivals and Darshan throughput.

It also enables forecasting by analysing three years of historical data along with current trends, helping TTD make better decisions during periods of heavy pilgrim influx.

Technology-Based Wildlife Monitoring

A technology-based system has also been developed to monitor wildlife movement, duration and proximity to pilgrims.

The system will be expanded further to improve the safety of pilgrims as well as forest personnel in Tirumala.

Luggage Management System Strengthened

Reforms in the luggage counters have enabled TTD to efficiently handle the deposit and delivery of around 2.6 crore bags in the past five months.

Further improvements are being undertaken to make the luggage management system more efficient and convenient for devotees.

State-Level Food Laboratory Becomes Operational

With the support of FSSAI, a state-level food laboratory has been established and has become operational within nine to ten months.

The laboratory is equipped to test rice, pulses, cooked food, laddus, water and other food items, helping strengthen food safety and quality standards.

Modern Annaprasadam Warehouse Planned

TTD has prepared a plan for a modern warehouse in Tirupati with cold-storage facilities and advanced logistics for Annaprasadam-related requirements.

The facility is targeted to become operational within 1 to 1.5 years.

Cultural Heritage to Get Greater Prominence

As part of efforts to promote Tirumala’s cultural and spiritual heritage, streets in Tirumala will be named after devotees, Alwars, historical personalities and spiritual leaders.

The initiative aims to preserve and promote the legacy of personalities associated with the spiritual tradition.

Kalyanakatta to Be Modernised

A work plan has been prepared for the modernisation of Kalyanakatta, with emphasis on providing better facilities and improving employee health and welfare.

Health screenings have already begun, with plans for annual medical examinations and continuous health monitoring.

Laddu Sales Cross 1.30 Crore in a Month

TTD recorded approximately 1.30 crore laddus sold in a single month, reflecting enhanced quality and the growing trust of devotees in Srivari Laddu Prasadam.

The record was attributed to coordinated efforts of various TTD departments and the faith of devotees.

Digital Procurement and Nandakam App

A digital procurement platform is being implemented to improve transparency and accountability in procurement processes.

The Nandakam app will monitor employee services, including health, FMS, complaints and efficiency, while also tracking the time taken to resolve issues.

Single Administrative Block and Policy Reforms

A site has been identified for a consolidated administrative building aimed at improving coordination among different TTD departments.

New policies, including Cottage Policy and Donation Policy, are also being introduced to provide greater clarity and establish a proper legal framework across various functions.

Employees Urged to Learn from Feedback and Failures

Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary attributed the achievements to the collective efforts of various TTD departments.

He urged employees to accept constructive feedback, learn from failures and continue serving devotees with dedication, human values and responsibility.

He expressed hope that TTD would introduce further innovative reforms by the next Independence Day.

TTD officials, employees and Vigilance personnel attended the programme.
