Tirumala: Fifteen out of the 25 electric Dharma Rathams announced as a donation to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) by Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, have reached Tirupati.
As part of the trial run, one of the newly arrived electric buses reached Tirumala on Sunday. The bus was brought to the TTD electric bus station located on the local ring road, where it was connected to the charging facility.
Additional EO to Examine Bus Performance
TTD Additional EO Sri Venkaiah Chowdary is expected to inspect the performance and operational capabilities of the electric Dharma Rathams.
The trial run is intended to assess the bus's performance and suitability for operations on the Tirumala routes.
₹27.5 Crore Electric Bus Donation
During his visit to Tirumala in June 2026, Anant Ambani had announced that Reliance would donate 25 electric buses worth ₹27.5 crore to TTD.
The donation also includes the manpower and infrastructure required for their operation, including 50 drivers and a charging station.
The electric buses are expected to strengthen TTD's public transport facilities while promoting cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation in Tirumala.
Electric Dharma Rathams to Be Launched During Brahmotsavams
According to TTD officials, the 25 electric Dharma Rathams are scheduled to be launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu during the annual Srivari Brahmotsavams.
The annual Brahmotsavams are scheduled to be held from September 15 to 23, 2026.
The introduction of these electric buses is expected to provide an additional boost to sustainable transport facilities for pilgrims visiting Tirumala.
