Tirupati, 22 April 2026 – Ankurarpanam (symbolic seed‑sowing ritual) was performed on Wednesday evening, 22 April 2026, at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Tirupati, marking the formal commencement of Pushpayagam to be held on 23 April 2026. This ritual followed traditional shastra‑vikriti procedures, with temple officials and priests in attendance, to prepare the ground for the sacred flower‑offering ceremony.

Pushpayagam and its significance

  • Pushpayagam at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple is held after the annual Brahmotsavams (which ran from 17 to 25 March 2026) as a prayaschitta (atonement) ritual for any inadvertent lapses during the main festival and daily pujas.

  • Devotees believe that this flower‑yaga (flower oblation) purifies the temple environment and removes doshas (spiritual/metaphysical afflictions) affecting individuals and the community.

Schedule on 23 April 2026

  • Morning:

    • Snapana Tirumanjanam (sacred ablution) for Sri Kodandarama Swamy and Goddess Sita will be performed from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

  • Evening:

    • Pushpayagam / Flower Abhishekam (worship with various fragrant flowers) for Lord Kodandarama Swamy along with Sita and Lakshmana will be conducted from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

    • grand procession of the deities along the four Mada streets surrounding the temple will start around 7:00 PM, offering darshan to devotees lined along the route.

Devotee participation and fees

  • Devotees can participate in the Pushpayagam by purchasing a ticket of ₹1,000 for two persons (typically a couple); this includes their presence and involvement in the main flower‑abhishekam.

  • Ticket‑holders are advised to reach the temple in advance to secure good vantage points for both the flower abhishekam and the Mada‑street procession, which are considered highly spiritually auspicious events.

TTD expects large numbers of devotees from Tirupati, Tirumala and surrounding districts to attend the Pushpayagam, turning the temple premises into a vibrant, devotional‑floral atmosphere on 23 April 2026.
