Tirupati, July 14, 2026: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) conducted Sahasra Kalasabhishekam at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Tirupati, on Tuesday to mark the auspicious occasions of Amavasya and Punarvasu Nakshatram.
The ritual commenced at 8.30 a.m. and was performed by temple priests according to the Vaikhanasa Agama traditions amidst Vedic chanting. A large number of devotees participated and received the divine blessings of Lord Sri Kodandarama Swamy.
Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam Performed
As part of the monthly observance on Punarvasu Nakshatram, the sacred Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam was performed from 11.00 a.m. at the temple's Kalyana Mandapam.
The celestial wedding ceremony was conducted with Vedic chanting and traditional music. Participating couples received Uttariyam, Ravike cloth, and Annaprasadam as prasadam.
Hanumantha Vahana Seva
In the evening, from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m., Hanumantha Vahana Seva was held with great devotion.
Beautifully adorned with magnificent ornaments, Lord Sri Kodandarama Swamy was taken in a grand procession on the Hanumantha Vahanam through the four Mada Streets, blessing thousands of devotees.
Significance in Vaikhanasa Agama
According to the Vaikhanasa Agama, the following days are considered especially sacred in Vaishnava temples:
- Pournami
- Amavasya
- Shukla Ekadasi
- Krishna Ekadasi
- Sravanam Nakshatram
- Punarvasu Nakshatram
Temple Deputy EO Smt. Nagaratna, Superintendent Sri Srinivasulu Reddy, Temple Inspector Sri Suresh, temple priests, officials and a large number of devotees participated in the celebrations.
