Tirumala, July 14, 2026: The sacred Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, one of the most important temple purification rituals, was performed with religious fervour at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Tirumala, on Tuesday ahead of the Annual Salakatla Anivara Asthanam, scheduled for July 17.
The ceremony was conducted strictly according to Agama traditions.
Temple Purified with Traditional Rituals
Speaking to the media, TTD Executive Officer Sri Muddada Ravichandra, along with Additional EO Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, explained that Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam is performed four times every year before:
- Ugadi
- Anivara Asthanam
- Srivari Brahmotsavams
- Vaikuntha Ekadasi
As part of the ritual, the temple was thoroughly cleansed from Ananda Nilayam to Bangaru Vakili, including:
- Sub-shrines
- Temple courtyard
- Potu (Temple Kitchen)
- Walls and roof
- Puja articles
The entire temple complex was washed with water as prescribed in the Agamas.
Special Purification Process
During the purification ceremony, the Moola Virat (Presiding Deity) was completely covered with a sacred cloth.
After the cleaning was completed, priests sprinkled the temple premises with a sacred aromatic herbal mixture, signifying spiritual purification.
The covering was then removed, followed by special pujas, Naivedyam, and the resumption of darshan for devotees.
Seva Cancelled
In view of the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana Seva was cancelled for the day.
TTD JEO Dr. A. Sharath, Additional EO Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, CVSO Sri Muralikrishna, Temple Deputy EO Sri Lokanatham, TTD Board Members, and senior officials participated in the sacred ceremony.
