Tirumala, August 25, 2026: With Tirumala preparing to welcome tens of thousands of pilgrims for the annual Srivari Brahmotsavams, the TTD Health Department has launched a proactive cleanliness campaign, with every Tuesday observed as “Cleaning Day.”
Weekly Cleaning Drive to Improve Hygiene
Under the instructions of TTD Executive Officer Sri Muddada Ravichandra and Additional Executive Officer Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, the initiative aims to maintain a clean and hygienic environment and ensure better food hygiene for devotees.
The campaign is focused on strengthening sanitation measures across Tirumala ahead of the expected increase in pilgrim footfall during the Brahmotsavams.
Fast-Food Centres to Close for Deep Cleaning
Following recent complaints regarding sanitation at some fast-food centres, Health Department Deputy EO Sri Somanarayana instructed shopkeepers to keep their outlets closed from 11 AM to 5 PM every Tuesday for deep cleaning.
The weekly closure will facilitate the thorough removal of accumulated waste, sanitisation of premises and preventive pest-control measures.
Deep Cleaning at Major Food Centres
As part of the initiative, fast-food centres at Third Choultry, PAC-1, PAC-2 and other locations underwent deep cleaning on Tuesday.
Health inspectors advised eatery operators to maintain strict hygiene standards in food preparation, storage and service, besides ensuring that their premises remain free from pests.
Strict Action for Hygiene Violations
The Health Department warned that stern action will be taken against establishments that fail to comply with hygiene requirements.
TTD appealed to devotees, shopkeepers and staff to cooperate with the initiative and contribute towards keeping Tirumala clean, hygienic and welcoming for all pilgrims.
