Tirupati, July 30, 2026: TTD Executive Officer Sri Muddada Ravichandra on Thursday released the posters and brochures for the Annual Sri Kodandarama Swamy Pavitrotsavams, which will be celebrated from August 7 to August 10, 2026, at the historic Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Tirupati.
The poster release programme was held at Sri Padmavathi Guest House, Tirupati, in the presence of TTD officials and temple priests.
Festival Begins with Ankurarpanam
The four-day festival will commence on August 7 with Ankurarpanam, preceded by traditional Vedic rituals including:
- 🌿 Medini Puja
- 🏺 Mrutsangrahanam
- 🌱 Ankurarpanam
These sacred rituals formally mark the beginning of the annual Pavitrotsavam.
Spiritual Importance of Pavitrotsavams
Pavitrotsavams are conducted every year to preserve the spiritual sanctity and ritual purity of the temple.
The festival serves as a Prayaschitta (atonement) for any inadvertent omissions or ritual lapses that may occur during daily worship by priests, temple staff, or devotees, ensuring the continued observance of Agama traditions.
Three Days of Sacred Rituals
The festival will feature several important religious ceremonies, including:
- 🔸 Pavitra Pratishtha
- 🔸 Pavitra Samarpana
- 🔸 Vedic Homams
- 🔸 Snapana Tirumanjanam
- 🔸 Daily Tiruveedhi Utsavams
- 🔸 Poornahuti on the concluding day
Participation for Devotees
Devotees can participate in the Pavitrotsavams as Grihastha couples by paying ₹500.
On the concluding day, each participating couple will receive:
- 👕 One Uttariyam
- 🧣 One Ravike
- 🪢 One Pavitram
as prasadam from the temple.
Spiritual Programmes
During the festival, TTD's Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad and the Annamacharya Project will organise:
- 📖 Daily spiritual discourses
- 🎵 Devotional music programmes
to enrich the spiritual experience of devotees.
