Tirumala, November 4, 2026: TTD Additional Executive Officer Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary stated that the Water and Food Analysis Laboratory at Tirumala is being developed as a national model with advanced equipment and modern testing facilities to ensure food quality and safety.
Participating in the Ayudha Puja celebrations at the laboratory on Wednesday, the Additional EO reviewed its functioning and inspected the available facilities.
Advanced Laboratory Facilities with FSSAI Support
Sri Venkaiah Chowdary said the laboratory was established with the support of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and equipped with advanced testing technology.
Currently, 34 personnel are working at the laboratory, and another eight staff members will be appointed soon to strengthen its operations.
He explained that food samples are tested at every stage, starting from the procurement of raw materials to the final preparation of food.
Around 2,500 Food Samples Tested During Brahmotsavams
The Additional EO revealed that approximately 2,500 food samples were tested during the recent Brahmotsavams to maintain food safety standards.
Drinking water samples supplied in Tirumala are also tested daily to ensure quality and safety for devotees.
11 Quality Tests for Srivari Laddu
The laboratory is equipped to conduct around 11 quality tests on the famous Srivari Laddu.
These tests include:

Nutritional values

Other quality parameters
Ghee and other ingredients used in food preparation are also tested regularly to ensure that they meet the required quality and safety standards.
Ensuring Quality in Annaprasadam and Drinking Water
Sri Venkaiah Chowdary emphasised that the laboratory plays an important role in maintaining high standards in Annaprasadam preparation, Srivari Laddu production and drinking water supply.
He said TTD aims to develop the laboratory into a national benchmark for food safety through advanced technology, regular testing and improved facilities.

TTD Health Deputy EO Sri Somannarayana, Procurement General Manager Sri Umashankar, Laboratory Quality Manager Sri Lakshminarayana, other officials and laboratory staff participated in the Ayudha Puja celebrations.
